Todd and Betty's

Although we had tons of fun driving through Death Valley and up the coast, our trip received a tremendous upgrade once we got to Todd and Betty's. They have got to be the best hosts ever. I pitched the idea to them (and I really do think that it is a good one), that we could sell vacations to their home in Palo Alto (with Betty's Mexican cooking thrown into the deal of course) for a hefty sum on the internet. I think it could be very profitable. We had such a fun time. I was going to be really clever and write this entire trip blog entry like I was a travel agent describing our fabulous adventure and trying to sell it, but it was way too much of an effort for my brain. It was hilarious . . . take my word for it. I am funny okay? Just kidding. I may not be so much funny, but I can do some pretty funny things. I had quite a few embarrassing moments while we were there which were entertaining for us all. I will relate those as I go.
One of the embarrassing things I did happened at Todd and Betty's. The kids were outside playing in this little enclosed park/common area place behind their house, and Todd and Betty had their sliding door open that leads out back. We were sitting there talking and I realized that it had been quite a while since we had checked on the kids, so I decided to run out there. And I did. I started running out there through the sliding door. Only I didn't quite realize that the screen door was not open and I ran full speed right into it, and it projected me backwards into the kitchen like it was a standing trampoline. It was quite hilarious, and we all laughed for awhile. At least it was pretty funny until I realized I broke the screen door in the process. I decided to do a photo reinactment afterwards.

One of the fun things we did while we were in Palo Alto was go to this really cool childrens center where they had all of these fun interactive activities for kids, and a little zoo. While we were looking at the animals I was telling Drew what the animals were and different things about them. We went over to the pond where the ducks and different duck-like birds were and I didn't know what one of them was called. Luckily for me though there was a sign with a picture of the bird on it and it's name. I said, "Drew! Look at that bird! It's called a 'May Bite.'" I was totally serious, and it took me a second to realize how dumb I really am. But seriously, look at the sign and tell me that someone else might not have made the same mistake. The Caution part of the sign is totally washed out! . . . Okay fine, I really am just a little too spacey. It was funny.

Mary, you crack me up. You really are funny. Now I know why Sue says: "I had a Mary moment"
