Entrepreneurs

Can't say for certain yet, but I think my kids just might have what it takes to really make it big someday.
Drew came home from school yesterday and he was completely convinced that he wanted to have a lemonade stand. He was on a mission. A mission to earn enough money to buy the "most powerful bakugan ever", in order to beat his friend Jonah.
He didn't need any encouragement from me. He whipped out some paper and started working hard on making his signs. He obviously had a plan.
"Drew, how much are you going to sell your lemonade for?" I asked.
"Oh . . . I was thinking maybe . . . three dollars."

"Uh . . . no." I helped him to see why that might be too steep of a price. We settled on 25 cents.

At this point Hayden came up with a bucket of dinosaurs.

"Hayden, what are you doing?"

"Oh. I'm having a 'dinosaur garage sale'" he said.

"Oh ya? How much are you going to sell you dinosaurs for?"

Then he asked Drew, "How much are you selling your lemonade?"

"25 cents"

"Oh. I'm going to sell mine for 24 cents."

Pretty smart.

Anyway, meanwhile Drew started digging through the fridge and he grabbed the lime juice.

"Mom, I know how to make lemonade. Really, I do. I just need some honey."
I felt a need to step in at this point as I was suddenly envisioning him selling some disgusting concoction of lime juice and honey to the neighbors.

"No Drew we have some pink lemonade we can mix together."

"Okay Mom, I'll set up the stand. You make the lemonade. Ready Go."

So off he went to set up his stand and then he came inside. We didn't have any plastic cups so we had to wait for Dad to buy some. While we were waiting Drew was getting impatient.

"Mom. No one has stopped yet."

I was like, "Drew, there is no lemonade out there and you guys aren't out there either." Obviously he thought that if he just made a sign the money would start rolling in.

Well Dad finally arrived with the cups. The lemonade was made . . . Showtime!

The stand was setup right in front of our house behind our tent trailer. Not the most ideal place for a lemonade stand . . . but Drew was confident. Every car that was even remotely close in our proximity Drew would shout out. "Yep, here comes a customer!" It was so cute. I was hoping someone would stop but didn't have a lot of hope. Lamon decided to be the first customer (and honestly I thought perhaps he would be their only customer). As Lamon headed for the house I whispered, "Can you call some of your scouts or something to come and buy some?" I was ready to pay someone 30 cents if they would buy a 25 cent lemonade. But luckily neighbors came to the rescue. Drew got some good business from the neighbor girls, and from our neighbors across the street. I was impressed with Drew. He asked everyone and anyone who drove, rode bikes, or walked by if they would like to buy some lemonade. He is not a shy boy. Hayden had a little tougher time convincing anyone that they wanted to buy a dinosaur. And I will just say that I am now two dinosaurs richer. I mean 24 cents for a dinosaur? How could I refuse? I can always use more dinosaurs! :)
